Downtown Disney is a real neat entertainment complex for a great vacation hangout
Downtown Disney is located at the Walt Disney World Resort and is an outdoor entertainment, shopping and dining complex. There is no admission fee and this is a great place to shop or hang out any time of the day. It does get pretty crowded in the evenings and weekends. There is also free parking here and transportation is available to all Disney resorts.

Downtown Disney is divided into three main areas. Each of these areas feature a great choice of restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.

Disney Marketplace
Disney Marketplace is the area that houses the various animals built using Legos. If you have kids who are Lego enthusiasts, this is a must see. Lego store would keep them busy for atleast an hour or two. Also enjoy the various Lego creations all around this area. My favorite is the one where a family holds different breed dogs using a leash.
Pleasure Island
Pleasure Island used be a nighttime entertainment complex with dance and comedy clubs including the Adventurer's club, 8 Trax, Mannequins Dance Palance and Raglan Irish Pub & Restaurant among others. All of the night clubs in Pleasure Island are permanently closed and the space will be converted to restaurants and shops over the next two years.
Disney Quest Interactive theme park
and Cirque de Soleil La Nouba are also located here.
West Side
Disney Quest West Side houses the Virgin Megastore, an AMC 24-screen movie theater, Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba, the House of Blues restaurant and show auditorium, the five floor DisneyQuest "indoor theme park", Planet Hollywood, the Wolfgang Puck Cafè, Bongos Cuban Cafè, and other various shops and eateries.
This is a great place for families visiting or living in Orlando to hang out on weekends or evenings. One thing I can say is that you would never be bored in Downtown Disney or while visiting Orlando. (Images on this picture courtesy of Dan McNeely)
Cool Tip
Visit during weekdays if possible. Weeknights and weekends get very busy and crowded.
It is a good idea to wear comfortable walking shoes or flip flops(My favorite) so that you can enjoy the walk.
Avoid heels or uncomfortable shoes unless you are planning to get dressed up.
