Orlando Science Center -Fun for kids of All Ages

The Orlando Science Center will fascinate kids whether they are seven or 70 years old with a host of displays and activities that will keep you coming back to make sure you did not miss any of them.

Prepare yourself as you walk across the sky bridge into a world of wonder and amazement, from the minute you enter until you walk out of the exit your mind will be filled with incredible exhibits and fun filled activities. Many of them are a permanent part of the museum but there are several that are only there for a short time giving you a great reason to come back whenever you are in town.

You are greeted by live turtles and alligators as you enter the museum through the glass atrium do not forget to stop and say hello before you move on to the 10 exhibit halls on 4 different floors topped off by the Crosby Observatory.

The Crosby Observatory is Florida's largest publicly accessible telescope and is open Friday and Saturday nights after 6p.m. The NatureWorks offers visitors a chance to see a cross section of the diverse ecosystems of Central Florida including a Cypress swamp complete with live alligators. Here you will also learn about the richness of the natural world as you see how bees build their hives and sand turtles dig their nests.

In the DinoDigs you learn about the largest animals to ever roam the planet as you examine fossils and explore the many displays available. Finish your stop with a chance to dig for "fossils" in the dig pit.

Dr. Dare's Lab gives you a chance to be a scientist as you get to perform a series of experiments under the guidance of an instructor. You can get a very close up look at everyday things through the area's only public access Scanning Electron Microscope.

For the little ones there is Kids Town where they can build dams and learn about things like what is under a city street, play mechanic at the super service center or learn how orange juice is made. All of the activities are designed to make them think while having plenty of fun.

This year there are several great temporary exhibits including Grossology where you learn about the science of the body's stinkiest functions, the Science of Milk gives you a behind the scenes look at where milk comes from and how it gets to your house.

Stop by the H2Now display to see how hydrogen can be used to power everything from cars to towns as you visit Hydropolis, then finish up at Hatching the Past and learn how dinosaurs lived with hands on exploration stations and a display of real eggs and artifacts.

There is always something new to see and learn at the Orlando Science Center which is located at 777 East Princeton St. Orlando. Hours are Sunday – Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
